Position Overview
Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University's (ENMU) Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology. ENMU seeks candidates with expertise in Wildlife Biology or related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to establish a research program that engages students in applied and/or basic research. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.Position open until filled.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology, including but not limited to Wildlife and Fisheries, Introductory Biology, Ecology, and advanced courses in Vertebrate Zoology and Mammalogy, Ornithology or Ichthyology.
  • Establish an active wildlife research program which provides training and applied and/or basic research experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Seek and obtain extramural funding to support research efforts.
  • Direct and mentor graduate students in theses and research projects.
  • Maintain appropriate service to the department, college and university, including service on departmental, college and university committees, assisting with the departmental recruitment and retention efforts, and advising undergraduate students.
  • Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field; ABD will be considered.
  • Expertise in wildlife biology, conservation, terrestrial mammalogy, or fisheries science
  • The ability to teach biology to students at all degree levels.Preferred Qualifications
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience with grant writing and funding.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students research.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and willingness to teach using traditional, hybrid or online distance education technologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear plans for an active research program.
