Job Description:
Overview: The PRN Lactation Educator teaches breast feeding and
prenatal childbirthing classes for the facility. Also fulfills all
the duties of the registered nurse profile.Type of Opportunity: Per

here Qualifications:
- Minimum of ADN education
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- Certified Lactation Counselor or International Board Certified
Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- Must maintain Certification and CEs appropriate for a Lactation
Counselor or IBCLC.
- Must register with the NM Board of Nursing Lactation Care
Providers.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP required. Responsibilities:
- Teach childbirth education classes
- Teach prenatal breastfeeding classes
- Providing one on one breastfeeding education to new mothers
during their hospital stay
- Answering calls regarding breastfeeding.
- Providing post-discharge breastfeeding consultation to new
mothers.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and education of
staff with Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative
- Assists with reporting monthly statistics for Baby Friendly,
Shaken Baby Syndrome
