Facilities Technician Job Description Required: High School
Diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience related to the
standard duties as outlined. Equivalency: Any combination of
education, training, and/or experience as approved by Human

from its website at . Purpose and Scope: Under general supervision
of the Director of Facilities the Facilities Technician will
perform multi-craft functions for the college. Functions may
include non-technical electrical, plumbing, grounds, carpentry,
locksmith, custodial, and painting; provides day-to-day
coordination, teamwork, and leadership to other employees
performing similar work. Duties and Responsibilities:The duties
below are representative of the duties of the classification and
are not intended to cover all the duties performed by the

classification.
- Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to buildings
and grounds.
- Assists licensed electrician with non-technical repairs.
- Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling
systems; performs standard repair and replacement of
components.
- Performs non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of
heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system
controls.
- Performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems,
including standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed
waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing
non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply
systems.
- Performs carpentry maintenance tasks including routine
sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window, roof,
cabinet, and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and
door and hardware installation, paint interior and exterior
finishes, as appropriate.
- May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal
tasks.
- Maintains the inventory of parts and supplies for facilities
repairs; orders materials as needed.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and
supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and
environmental practices.
- Documents facilities maintenance requirements; maintains
appropriate records of work performed.
- Performs snow removal, as required.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of one or more building trades including electrical,
plumbing, HVAC, utility operations, building maintenance, and
carpentry.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and
procedures.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to assist with repair and maintenance of heating and
cooling equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety
procedures.
- Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC,
Windows-based operating environment.
